Another clear night so added some more time to M51

Celestron C11 @ 6.3 Canon 40d Modified Guided with PHD DSI pro II and 80 mm short tube

50 x 3 minutes ISO 1600

5 X 8 minutes ISO 800

44 X 5 minutes ISO 800

40 Darks

40 Flats

20 Bias

Stacked in DSS combined in Registar Processed in CS2

Thanks Rog, I can see the difference with been at a darker site than my Backyard I have to get back there to finish of my 106 Galaxy

Les, that is an absolutely stonking image, especially given the dslr. The second version has it for me, looks very natural.

I was reluctant to change from dslr to CCD, but there really is a big difference, especially if you are going from 12bit to 16 bit. You can go longer and deeper and draw out so many more colours from everything, including the stars, which can just turn to white blobs with a dslr. Are you coming to SGL4 btw?
