Certainly as Evscope and Stellina have demonstrated there are people out there that it appeals to. For me personally, if there's no challenge, there's no reward. The journey makes it all worthwhile.

There is a challenge, like astrophotography it also saves individual frames, so depending on how well you learn processing, can pull much more out of it than just the visually final single stacked  EAA image.

so the challenge is dependant on your processing. It’s more limited if you just use for EAA images, etc  but to get the best out of it still need processing skills or learn to process images. Will pull out twice what the EAA image will if processed.

The beauty of this is you can be happy, if you wish just to view the final EAA image, or take it further and stack the individual frames.

I tried to image medusa nebula few days ago from light polluted area, it is rewarding too see something!

Also I have  one of most custom setups on one hand (custom telescopse, custom mount - onstep) and on other hand dwarf, telescope that has been where big setup has never been and will never be.

Ok I just see in a last post I forgot to upload images and ended up being a fool.

So regarding import taxes in EU, I was said as a kickstarter everything will be covered. But it was not, I had to pay, but dwarf sortof compensated me.

Mguess is you should count on import taxes.

Regarding addons, only magnetic filter adapter should be bought. Then you can source filters from where ever.

If you plan to watch the sun, take ND filters straight away from them, although you can source them later as well.

A UK purchaser at the 'pre-order' price of £335 + £13 filter adapter + shipping (£35?) can look forward to 20% VAT (£76.60?) and an unspecified import duty.
Not forgetting there is potentially a handling fee (£20+) applied by the carrier.
So about £500 once in my hands.

I've been looking at the development of these so-called smart telescopes for some time with a degree of envy and this Dwarf II certainly looks excellent value for money. However, if I buy anything new in the next few years I would face some serious problems domestically😄 so I've started to cobble together my own DIY version with existing gear. This setup is also covered by Cuiv on YT

I managed to get it working yesterday using my Android phone but my Ipad wouldn't play ball.

There is ZWO Seestar S50 now in as well.

It has narrower FOV, it is more competition to Vespera than to Dwarf, but at Dwarf price. Dwatf is Undoubtedly better for daytime use due to wide camera and wider FOV, also for those few big targets on night as well, but for most night targets Seestar is better option.

Dwarf sales will no doubt take a hit, but I do not know why would anyone buy vespera after this goes out.

Here are some images done with  ZWO Seestar 1682450965617.thumb.jpg.c0cf9891bdac7e422e47eeb0734a613d.jpg1682450961892.thumb.jpg.2e881abdf0f5d8c72435e0d27061a5c5.jpg1682450957481.thumb.jpg.652fce29876a49c28796614c0efb9b0a.jpg

And here's the link to buy AN June 2023 if you're not a subscriber https://shop.astronomynow.com/product/an-june-2022/ I just bought the digital version, and Ade's review of D2 is favourable:

"I consider the results, processed  with the freeware ASIStudio and  Siril, to be amazing given the  instrument’s small aperture and the  very unfavourable conditions. The D2 is one of the best conceived  and implemented imaging devices  I’ve encountered in a long while."

Also: Hi SGL, good to be back. It was D2 that just might tempt me back to stargazing!
