C6 on Vixen GP?

I’m seeking advice on whether a Celestron C6 SCT is adequately mounted on a Vixen GP EQ mount on a Skywatcher tripod with 1.75” legs.  This is for visual only. Of course there’s advice elsewhere online but if anyone on here can answer this question I’d be pleased.

Thanks in advance, Ed.

A vixen GP would handle a C6 without issue, it will handle a C8 without issue, no worries there my friend, I have a Vixen GP and have had a C8 on it for a short while.

Hi Ed,

Short answer, "Yes, it will work well!".

I regularly used a Ylena Russian 150mm Mak F14 on a GP (think "small tank"), and it was a lovely match.

The GPs are a superb mount, even today, for visual, as are the SP (which can be used also as an Altaz) and the GPDX, which is even beefier.

Use with confidence!👍😊

My two main scopes are a C6 (6SE version) and a de-forked Meade 8 inch SCT. For extended observations, I mount either on a Vixen GP. The C6 is perfect on the GP mount. It's a very light scope in relation to its size and doesn't tax the EQ5 upgrade motors at all.  I would imagine a C8 would work quite well on a GP mount too. I use the 8 inch Meade for planetary and I want to buy a HEQ5 to mount it - think it would be a better fit. I don't want to sell my GP mount because it works so well with my lighter scopes.
