Astro Pixel Processor - producing calibrated images

Firstly there is a new APP version 1.083.3. if you were not aware.

Using my ASI533 MC Pro at -10C I usually either do not use callibration frames or just flats and flatdarks. But this has led to APP giving warnings about being unable to apply calibration frames.

What workflow do you use? I found that applying darks gave awful results so I ditched them. Ditto BIAS frames.

I would love to hear what others are doing to get good results.

With APP, and my QHY268c i shoot at -15, and i use Darks, Flats and dark flats, there is no need for bias as the bias signal is in the dark flats…

I have not tried without darks, but the above gives me great results in APP, but the flats and dark flats should be at least a few seconds long, as with my camera if they are too short it can cause issues, so nothing under 2 seconds…

With CMOS cameras I use APP to apply Darks, Dark Flats and Flats, again aiming for the Flats and Dark Flats to be a few seconds in duration.

Darks are essential with my older amp glow affected CMOS cameras, and as I don’t always dither with a dual rig, they help create a bad pixel map for the cleaner IMX571 sensor cameras.
