That focuser looks machined rather than cast- should polish up lovely like your fancy Moonlite :)

Mark

Hi Mark,

It was cast but of course certain parts were machined to fit , afterwards, and it has polished up beautifully in my workshop, the problem is deciding when to stop.....

OK, so as the OP is refusing to give teasers out 🙂 why don’t we just for fun and whilst our scopes are cooling down have a guess at what colour it will be ?
I will suggest a classic creamy white 😁

If it's not a white tube with black and / or brass fittings, it's plain WRONG !!!!!

I genuinely don't know what colour it will be, but knowing Steve, whatever it is, it will be tasteful and will look great!👍😎

Wrong glass as well - it's a "Poodle" as Neil English would have said !

Yes, he didn't like Apo scopes, and later on seemed not to like refractors at all - despite having written a book about choosing and using a refractor telescope! :glasses12:🥴

Yep - he was "converted" from traditional achromat refractors, initially by a mak-cassegrain 180mm and then by a Skywatcher 200P dob.

I do, but I'm not telling 🤭

But your latter two statements are correct Dave, and it will definitely look great.

I think the flourescent ornage will suit Arcturus well.
Shows Steve's fine taste 😉
Oh and be very 1970's Celestron as well

My old Konus branded 150mm F/8 was not far off !

Here is another picture of a big Konus in orange and in a case nearby what I think is early? Celestron orange.

Both pictures taken in a optical museum in Madeira, I should add with the owners permission.
