Anyone who wants an imaging challenge could do worse than read ATel 14656 which reports a nova in M81.

The object designated PNV J09553378+6904293 is located at: RA 9h55m33s.78, DEC +69o04'29".3 (2000.0), which is 3.3" east and 34.2" north of the centre of M81

At mag 19.6 yesterday it is well within range of many people here.
