Why is there a shortage of new telescopes this size? I have been looking for several months now.

Hi John

What type of 200mm scope are you looking for? I have a sky watcher 200p currently for sale in the classifieds if that's of interest.

Regards

Baz

I had this problem in the summer when I ordered a SkyWatcher 200p. I just had to be patient, placed the order in August, it arrived in October. It was worth the wait though.

On a related note, it looks like prices have gone up. I don’t remember my scope being £400!?

Yes, Skywatcher prices, along with most astronomy gear prices, have gone up quite a bit.  Those of us in the US are now getting hit with a special 25% tariff on Chinese made items on top of those price increases, so consider yourself fortunate you're not having to deal with it as well.

I assume you are looking for a reflector?

FLO are showing 2 x 200P OTAs in stock just now

You would need a mount as well though. Generally I have seen mount/OTA combines for sale but the OTA is very near the mounts payload maximum.

Thank you for your help, wondering what mount it will fit on safely.

I’ve tried it with ASI1600mm cooled, 7 position EFW and 0.9 Coma corrector

Celestron AVX - balanced and guided well. Use Skywatcher StarTravel 80 as guidescope. 81%of payload, much better using Orion 50mm guidescope (75%

CGEM-DX at 49% and 45% of load.
