Pelican Nebula

At last some clear skies 🙂

 

Pelican Nebula. Ha, Oiii, Sii, 600s subs, 4.5 hrs. integration time.

 

But where is the pelican? I cant see it.

Also I have some halos around those bright stars, but it is only in the Oiii data, not Ha or Sii. I wonder if I have that filter the wrong way around.

Very nice, the Pelican is dead centre I believe, the little streak coming out of the brown'ish dust

If I may stick my beak in here. I can't see it either. Have you tried plate solving on it?

The brown wave in the middle is the Pelican neck. You are too close to see it

You can compere with mine at a wider field. Mine is rotated 90 deg counter clockwise

I'm thinking it might be awkward to see because of the image scale.  And perhaps because it is in an unfamiliar orientation?

I think it's much easier to see in this orientation:

but the "beak" is chopped off the bottom of the frame.  Rotating the camera by 90 degrees would possibly help?

Oh, regarding halos on the OIII subs, I believe that's a common criticism of Baader filters if that's what you're using?

Using ZWO filters, pretty sure I installed it the right way, but I am going to check.

I didn't think orientation mattered, I have to admit.  The two I have sitting here on my desk (SII and Ha) have no indication of required orientation.  They're not ZWO filters however.  I don't think I have any ZWO ones.

This is the full image rotated 180 degrees. The first one I posted was cropped.

 

I still don't see a pelican in there. My imagination is terrible though, I might have to ask one of the kids.

Maybe a bit too blue, but enough processing for now.
