Rodd
I decided to reshoot M33. I was never satisfied with my previous attempt and I lost the data, so I am stuck with the image. My goal was to keep it as natural as possible, and not over saturated. I probably could have been a little more liberal in hind sight. I have included a close up of a spiral arm and the great Ha emission region NGC 604, which is 1,500 times bigger than M42. I bumped the saturation in the spiral arm image, which is a crop of the main image. TOA 130 with .7x reducer and ASI 1600. 32.3 hours (but 13 or so is Ha). Ha 157 300 sec; Red 125 120 sec; green 121 120 sec; Blue 116 120 sec.
Sunshine
Fantastic image, the hours on Ha really paid off as those regions really pop. Beautiful!
Rodd
Thanks Sunshine. When the Moon is up, there is not much else to do. Data can pile up!

alpal
Excellent data and processing. Did you use some of the Ha for luminance?
Steorra
Amazing image, I love when Ha is intergrate with galaxies it just makes them look so much better.

Thanks Steorra. I agree, as long as the Ha is not overdone, which for me is usually a pitfall

I did not use Ha as luminance, but I did insert a small amount of Ha into the luminance stack. Just a touch

andrew s
Fine image @Rodd, I am always in two minds as to if the H alpha overpowers the rest of the image or not. Do they out shine the blue knots of massive stars. Clearly personal preference. Regards Andrew Edited November 25, 2020 by andrew s

Do they out shine the blue knots of massive stars. Clearly personal preference. Regards Andrew Well, I did boost saturation in the crop as it makes a better image I feel. But your right--most M33s are overstated and most Ha inclusions (mine especially) are to red. Here's a straight crop--no saturation adjustment. Any less than this and one might as well not add the Ha. I think the blue stars could be more saturated--but this is how they came out.
