Converting 9x50 Finderscope to guidescope

Recommended Posts

Quick question about converting my 9x50.

I have a QHY5L so know I can buy a Modern Astronomy Adapter - do I screw straight into the adapter, or do I remove the filter in the QHY first to expose the c mount thread?

I have one, used to use it with a QHY5 mk1. Recently swapped out to a T7C... but not had the weather to try it yet.

I got the T mount adapter from FLO and then a 1.25 eyepiece holder for the camera.

Nice set up!

Is it just a case of unscrewing the eyepiece from the finderscope and screwing in the camera?

here's mine you still need an adaptor for the finderscope

I originally bought mine used with the QHY5 fitted.

camera was kind of working but a bit flacky and pretty old... but still used it many times. The adapter it used I just couldn’t unscrew from the camera... so got another

then...

and then....

You might not need all that... depends what you have in mind.

The T7C camera is a clone ASI 120MC (computer sees it as that as well).

Hi mate, do you have the .STL file for this adapter?

Apologies - realise this is several months late but have only just seen and it may be of use to yourself and others,

The datyson one on Thingiverse didn't work for me hence designing my own, stl below;
