Solar white light images - 5th June 2020

I’ve had  probably about 20 mins total looking at the sun today, between clouds and showers. In part inspired by @Littleguy80, I decided to try with the DSLR too to see what I got, unusual for me as I’m normally smartphone only!

My DSLR is an old 1000D, so the sensor is probably quite old hat, but I’m quite pleased with the results. Full disk is just with a barlow screwed into the T ring, the larger scale ones have some extension tubes added for large scale. Focusing just by using live view zoom in x10, quite hard to see when it was spot on.

The first two are with the iPhone through my binoviewer, remainder with DSLR.

Very nice, Stu. I'm glad you felt inspired to get the DSLR out  The focus is definitely the trickiest part. I'm always feel a bit disappointed by the sharpness of the images compared to the view through the eyepiece.

Thanks Neil. Yes, focus is tricky, alot of it related to the seeing varying. I reckon I might have to brave stacking video at some point! 😱😱
