Red dot finder

Hi while attaching  my red dot finder to my 8se I’ve accidentally unscrewed both screws and can’t get them back on - any ideas ??

The bracket that keeps it in place they appear to just turn - they don’t tighten

Don't they work like a clamp, with one side having threaded and the other with unthreaded holes ?

The don’t seem to work either way ??  They appear to be negative screws that just turn and turn

Daft question but I presume it’s a right hand thread not left hand?

Thats odd.

One of those two rails should have threaded holes though it. I seem to recall that the screws should go through the rail with the unthreaded holes and screw into the holes on the other rail thus forming a clamp

I’ve tried both ends but it doesn’t tighten

Just a thought. Have you get the two clamping pieces the right way up? On many finders they will only fit properly if the right way up which could stop the screws from  engaging.

I am sure mine had nuts on the one side for the screws to go into the nuts have not fallen on the floor and you didn't see them come off

Yea I get that but they don’t tighten , I think I’ve just got a poor one

I have heard they are poor Quality anyway - I m told a telrad is better - would that for my scope ?

You've got the screws through the wrong side in your picture.

Could be that either the threads on the screws or nuts are worn?

Bit difficult to see from your original photo but are the threads undamaged / intact on the screws and the threaded inserts on the plate?  I.E can you screw them in and out easily without using tools?

is your setup the same as what @johninderby has posted above?

The screws need to go through the hole on the left hand plate (in your picture) and the end of the screws should just come out through the raised collar on the right hand plate which is threaded.

I’ve tried both ways - neither works as the screws just turn and don’t thread at all - supplier is sending me a new one but tbh it’s a terrible item and needs upgrading ASAP it was way off last night and it’s very poor quality
