Sky Safari?

Sky Safari pro, Sky Safari plus, what is the difference ? Is it just the larger database or other things? Any advice appreciated.

Yes, basically just the extra databases. They aren't really necessary for normal observing, I just like having them for occasionally help for people trying to identify faint objects in images.

There are some add ins you can get for both, such as the H-R diagram function.

Quite right, I checked the App Store on and off for around two months, and Sky Safari plus was suddenly reduced in price to around six pounds. I didn’t bother with the pro version as I suspected that just like the huge data bases that come with GoTo mounts, a large percentage of objects would be out of the grasp of my modest scopes.

To be honest I was quite happy with the free version but I wanted to add WiFi telescope control and this is not available on the free version.

Once again, many  thanks for the replies, will have to check the App Store regularly. Pity you can’t set an alert when something you would like drops in price, like flea bay. 🤭

The SkySafari website has an email newsletter you can sign up for. They normally send out a mail when it’s on offer. I’ve had the Plus and Pro versions. Plus will give you everything you need for normal observing. Some nice features in Pro but nothing that I use at the scope.

I have the pro version but agree it isn't really necessary. All it does for me is take up a huge amount of memory in my phone!  I would recommend the HR diagram, that is great.

Just been on sky Safari website to sign up for newsletter. The header says “sign up below”, but I can’t see where. Brain must be going, oh well 🥺
