Isolating certain frames from an avi file?

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I'm sure hope someone can answer my question. I managed to get an avi file of the ISS transit across the solar disk today. I've looked at the avi file and frames 1042 to 1056 contain images of the ISS in transit. When I use autostakker 3 combines the avi file into a tiff but no ISS. Is there a software that can isolate the frames with the ISS on them? One of the frames, a screen shot attached.

You can do it in  AutoStakkert3.   (before you do any stacking)

When you load up your AVI file, two boxes appear.  The 'image' one has a sliding bar thingy on the top which allows you to step through the frames.  Get to your transit ones and  export each of the frame individually.

Then a bit of Photoshop adding.......

I did the process yesterday and got this....

Friends has answered good tips. I have another one.

I use the PIPP software. Into the program you will see a label called INPUT FRAMES. There you can type exactly the frames you want to keep. You are also able to choose file format to Export (avi, ser, png, Tiff...), the FPS rate, reorder frames by quality....

I had the same Lucky of capture an ISS transit in front of the sun.

Please, share your final image!! 😎
