knobby
I have the C8 Edge and SCT Crayfords fit fine, If the 8SE is very old then maybe an issue as specs change over time but I'd be fairly confident it will fit ... easy to say though as it's not my money ! smudgeball
Thanks for your reply, I'm errrrring on the yes it will fit. Tried focusing last night and the supplied Celestron focus knob was so clunky ! Cheers Neil
johninderby
Was going to recommend this until I saw the latest price. Think I paid £169.00 last time I bought one but the price has now gotten just plain silly. ? https://www.firstlightoptics.com/starlight-instruments-feather-touch-sct-microfocusers/microfocuser-for-celestron-cpc-800-6se-c8edge-8se.html

RT65CB-SWL
Using a Crayford focusser on a catadioptric 'scope is an improvement. The photo below showing mine attached to my 're-modded' ETX105. The Celestron FF/FR is being used as a temporary spacer, as the ETX focus knob and shaft do not clear the Crayford focusser body. Since the photo was taken, I do have a shorter spacer with SCT threads. I do use the Crayford focusser on my Celestron C6 SCT too.
baggywrinkle
https://www.firstlightoptics.com/baader-diamond-steeltrack-focusers/baader-steeltrack-diamond-sc-for-sct-telescopes.html I bought a CPC8 for outreach and it suffered from mirror flop. I bought the Baader Steeltrack, though pricey it is excellent quality and very precise. It will take the weight of my Canon SLR and not creep. The focus lock does not shift the focus either. So no I get rough focus on the built in focuser and fine tune on the Baader.
johninderby
I’ve found the Baader Steeltrack to be an excellent focuser as well. Use one on my Skymax 180.

Beautiful setup John. I agree, I think the Steeltrack (or Diamondtrack) focusers are lovely to use and actually quite good value vs Feathertouch. Super precision and autofocus for AP and EAA. If you want Ferrari performance don't expect to pay Skoda prices. It is no different with eyepieces or any other astro precision devices (example Hyperstar; Starsense etc.).
