It's a great image James - moreso as you were using a 300mm lens. It's not that easy to get good lunar definition with such a focal length but you've managed it.

If the Lens i put up for sale/trade doesn't go i think I'll keep it as it's so good for those quick setup's and with event's like Earthshine/Eclipses etc etc.

Lovely picture. I was told by my son Eddie that it's called the old moon in the arms of the new moon, or it might have been t'other way around. Amazing what they teach 'em at school these days.

That's a great image James. Fascinating to think that you are looking at light reflected of the moon reflected off the earth. Have you tried mixing the exposures and combining - is that possible?

It's possiable Pete Lawrance did and got on Astronomy picture of the day doing that very thing matey, not easy though i must say i will give it another whirl last try was well errrrrrrr donkey doing's hehe

Ps:I heard that you can get a perfect image by blotting the bright parts of the Moon with tape on the eyepiece if using afocal method anyone know about that? seems a bit drastic but one to play with(an old eyepiece of course).

Thats a nice one James. I have a few of these myself.... just love the dark moon of which you can make out so much detail
