Polar Aligning with SharpCap Pro

Hi Guys

i am considering buying the SharpCap pro software mainly for the polar alignment.

I would be using my guide scope to attach my Altair Astro camera to enable me to use SharpCap.

My guides scope is an f5. ST80.

will the scope be okay with SharpCap ?

I would think so. I've used my ST80 in much the same way.

I use my Altair guide cam attached to my finder to polar align with Sharpcap, so your ST80 should be ok.

Its a doddle to polar align with Sharpcap though, the routine takes me 10mins max

Does it give you full instructions as how to perform polar alignment in V2.9 ?

Does it? When I tried it, Sharpcap said I had to upgrade before I could make any adjustments to correct PA.

Tip: Use the mounts controls to slew RA when prompted as by doing it manually by releasing the clutches can give differing results on each side of the mount!

I think the £10 for a pro license is money well spent, if only for the Polar Alignment routine, (I do use it for capturing solar system objects too). I am unable to see polaris through my polar-scope so I slew my scope 45 deg East complete the first part, slew across 90 deg so the scope is 45 deg West, complete the 2nd plate solve, then follow the instructions to PA my mount. Since using SharpCap to do my PA it has cut down my setup time considerably.

You get that message when you use V3.0 and above.

Are you sure you were using V2.9 or eariler??
