My Atik 420 is one of a couple of devices I have where it is important to connect the USB port first and have it live before connecting power to the camera.

Thanks - I will try that but that doesnt explain why the GP Cam isnt recognised - its USB powered.

It's, bit late now but I also had the same issue last night. It stems from a January update. Simply put, you need re-enable the "call" right for all of your devices.

To fix it, follow this link http://forums.dc3.com/showthread.php?11182-SOLVED-ALERT-Windows-10-Update-KB4056892-Reported-Problems&p=67734#post67734  It's too onerous a task, and its a fix that doesn't need a re-boot

Even though Microsoft, rolled back the update, the damage had already been done...

Thanks Julian - will try that.

FIXED !!!

I tried everything suggested to no avail.

Scoured the web this morning and found a chap in Italy was having the same issues.

He solved it by uninstalling the Atik software - core and everything else then reinstalling an older version of the Atik Software.

I managed to find Atik Core software v4.2.0.3. which is about 6 months ago I think.

Everything is now working - Atik 460 and EFW2 in SGP and the GP Cam in PHD2 !!

I cant explain it but its working so I am leaving it alone !!

Thank you so much to everyone who offered help and support - you are all stars!!!

Oh dear Billy, I was out last night so didn't see your thread, but I wouldn't have been a lot of use anyway.

I know this doesn't help but do you really need to allow your laptop to do updates?  Updating things and operating systems seem to create so many problems for us astronomers that I rarely update mine as I would be useless trying to sort out the problems.  As I only use it for imaging and very rarely surfing I have been OK so far.
