m81 + m82

Hi everyone. Renovated 254mm; it's noticeably faster than our 150 f8. We got an hour before moon rise, so looking promising. Another hour or so needed...

Thanks for looking and clear skies. Any comments most gratefully received especially anyone else imaging at this scale.

Very nice image even without the extra data needed. M81 has some fantastic detail in the arms.

Very nice, but there is something not quite right with this on my monitor!  I've imaged these two recently with my 254mm newt, 13x300s ISO800, it's a nice image scale for these two.

That's going well. At fine pixel scales you have to watch focus like a hawk but it looks tight so far. You really would continue to see improvements by adding many more hours.

Impressive detail, especially for just 1 hour of data. I think your scope is f#4.8. Recently I imaged M81 with my 150PL - a bit slower at f#8. You can see my effort (much longer imaging time) here for comparison : https://stargazerslounge.com/topic/309605-dso-imaging-with-150pl-m81/

Perhaps the skies are a bit clearer in Alicante?

Yeah, much better. The big advantage with the 150 f8 is the release from coma correctors. We have a Bresser nt150l which is also 1200mm. This project is to get the imaging time down. Still 1200mm, but with a bigger aperture. Alas however, the dreaded coma corrector:(

Wow really good detail in those, that aperture really does make a difference. Very nice for limited integration time.

Another hour up to the meridian through last night's Mediterranean haze. Getting there. There's a hint of those red spiky things that stick out from m82; have to have red spiky things. I wonder how many more hours that's gonna take?
