Atik Horizon CMOS Imaging Camera

Our first delivery of the new Atik Horizon CMOS USB-3 imaging camera has arrived!  

First impressions are - it is beautifully made and a little bigger than expected. 

Atik's first ever CMOS camera, the Horizon, features Panasonic's sensitive 4/3" CMOS MN34230 sensor in a new condensation free chamber with the same quartz fused cover glass as used in the Atik 383L+ to prevent condensation forming on the outside of the glass when the camera has cooled.

It also benefits from a built-in 256mb DDR3 image buffer to remove amp glow and other artefacts caused by data transfer over USB2, while also preventing issues with dropped frames. This makes for a seamless and fast imaging experience, whether you choose the flexibility and lower cable weight of USB2, or the faster speeds of USB3. 

Unfortunately we have received only Mono models, the Colour version will arrive later. 

If you have a Mono Atik Horizon on backorder we are dispatching them today for delivery tomorrow  

Our apologies to those of you still waiting for the Colour model. We don't yet have an official ETA but are predicting it will be released later this month or early next.

Nice camera Steve, as you say its a nice introduction from users of DSLR's into dedicated Astro Cameras, and the camera looks a bit meaty as well.

Very very nice indeed.  Bigger than I envisaged too.

If I were to take the plunge in to CMOS AP, this would definitely be at the very top of my list.

Much like the ZWO ASI1600MM-Cool Pro by the look of it but a bit bigger.  I've certainly been very impressed by the ASI1600MM-Cool (not the Pro).

Oh well,  no colour arrival yet, dying to try it out with some live stacking with Atik Infinity.

That was Thursday... The following day, after we had dispatched Atik Horizon cameras to customers, two competitors reduced their prices £25 

We have reduced ours to match and will be emailing everyone who pre-ordered an Atik Horizon Mono camera a £25 FLO Gift Voucher
