Hi everybody new to this sight and astronomy, have just bought myself an early Christmas present the nexstar 5

could any body please tel me if i would be able to see any deep space objects with this scope, and could i use it for photography i have a Nikon 35mm camera not digital may thanks

Hello welcome to the forum Elliott,deep space yes,imaging yes,it will be at its best for

webcam imaging of lunar & planetary and it is a fine starter outfit.

The Nexstar 5 is a wonderful compact SCT. I bought mine 8/9 years ago and I have now seen over 100 Messier objects and 29 of the Caldwell objects visible from the UK.

I would recommend that you consider a focal reducer taking the scope to F6.3 and buying some bob's knobs for collimation.
