PepeChambo
New comet C/2017 O1 ASASSN imaged on July 28th 2017, was discovered during an abrupt increase of brightness until the magnitude 10 at present. As seen in this image has developed a green gassy coma of diatomic carbon, with an appearent size of 10 arcminutes. This comet can reach a maximum brightness around 7th magnitude on next october when be observable from northern hemisphere passing near celestial zenit. There are some galaxies in this field, at right NGC 1084 and at bottom-left NGC 1110 edgeways. PepeChambo
Comet C/2017 O1 ASASSN imaged on August 4th 2017. Since last image I have took a week ago, its coma keeps with 10' long although seem that the central condensation is brighter. But the news is apparition of a dust tail whith near 5' long from said concentration toward southwest (to down right). PepeChambo
Comet C/2017 O1 ASASSN imaged on August 22th 2017 continues evolving. One month after be discovered its brightness has increased until magnitude 9 and its tail continues growing. In this image is evident with 10' lenght, although seems more long and shaped as ionic tail. PepeChambo
Comet C/2017 O1 ASASSN photographed on September 18th 2017. Comparing this image with I took a month ago is seen as have increased the apparent size of its greenish coma from 7' to 10', and the lenght of its ionic tail from 10' to 20'. Its brightness has slightly increased on same time from magnitude 9 to 8.5 approximately. The brightest star in field is 37 Tauri with magnitude 4,4. Davey-T
Another super comet capture Jose, it should appear above the rooftops around midnight here so will have a look if it's clear, quoted mag' 15 or so, hope your mag 8.5 is right Dave
Littleguy80
Great set of images! I had a go at this visually earlier this week but no luck. Transparency wasn’t good and I was relying on SkySafari for position. SkySafari was quoting around mag 12.5 but i’m not sure how often they update the mags. Looking forward to seeing how much this brightens over the next month or so
PepeChambo
I would like observe visually next weeks from a dark place. Past month I tried, but couldn't see it through binos. Thanks Dave and Littleguy
PepeChambo
Comet C/2017 O1 ASASSN photographed on September 25th 2017, keeping its morphological shape with a coma of 8' diameter and tail about 15' long. Located in this image into constellation Taurus and above a zone of dark clouds of dust wich hidde the starry background. Buzzard75
I had trouble visually locating it myself last weekend. It might have just been too low of magnitude for me visually. I'm hoping to get a chance at it this weekend or next. What are you using to locate it? I saw another mention SkySafari. I was just pulling up the coordinates on the internet and aligned my GoTo to those coordinates within a second or two, which should have been close enough, and I just couldn't find it. PepeChambo
Comet C/2017 O1 ASASSN photographed on October 18th 2017, just on day of its maximum approach to Earth to a distance of 0.7 A.U. (150 million kilometers) from our planet, reaching then its maximum apparent brightness with approximately magnitude 8.5. In this wide field image above a rich starry background and some dark clouds of dust into Camelopardalis constellation (The Giraffe), comet is seen with a coma near 10' diameter and a tail half degree long toward southwest. PepeChambo
Comet C/2017 O1 (ASASSN) photographed on October 21th 2017, at time begun to go away from Sun as Earth. In spite of had a brightness drop of half magnitude until 8.5, still shown photographically a coma with 10' diameter, alhough with external layer very difuse, and also a faint tail of 20' long toward southwest. PepeChambo
Comet C/2017 O1 (ASASSN) photographed on November 19th 2017. Its brightness has dropped clearly during the last month until magnitude 10 approximately. In this image taken when comet is going on Cepheus constellation toward celestial north pole, shows a green-bluish coma of 7' diameter and a tail also more faint and short until near 10' lenght.
