An urban telescope's eye view.

I had a lovely session in Cygnus last night. Cracking seeing and not a cloud in sight, all the usual suspects plus a few off the beaten track. Before I started I grabbed 5x20s frames at ISO 400 piggy backed on the scope rings and stacked them in DSS to have something to add to the notes.

Not bad considering the local LP - there's a little bit of MW structure and that's just from stacking and a simple stretch.

Quite right too Jules, I had a good few hours observing last night, and it only seems like days ago there was barely any darkness.

That's a great shot, can clearly see the drainpipe nebula.

I think you'll find it's actually the Northern Hemisphere equivalent of the Coal Sack, known as the 'Soil Stack' or sometimes the 'Swan's Vent Pipe'.

But it does bear a remarkable resemblance to the Drainpipe ;-)
