Choosing a refractor for AP

Hi all.

I'm looking into buying a refractor for AP.

Wanting 4kg or less, 80mm around F5. ish

My budget is about £650. atm

Any ideas or recommendations ?

+1 for the above and within your budget is the matched reducer/flattener.

Buy a Equinox ED80 Refractor then buy a reducer for it.

Just a possible alternative and not sure the cost but have a look at the ES Essential scopes, they are triplets, they use a glass that matches the FPL-51 but they are good scopes for imaging. Not sure of the cost but they are generally a good price.

The Equinox was one I had been looking at. The TS optics Photoline 80 is a lot of scope for the money. It's a tough decision to make but.

I have chosen the Equinox ED80, the reviews on it are very good too.

The only trouble is I haven't seen any stars for over a week now. Who placed Great Britain under the clouds.

There is pds 130 too. One might say its better than 80 ed scopes.
