More 'in' focus or more 'out' focus ??

Recommended Posts

I am messing about setting up a new scope that Santa left a little early.

I have managed to achieve focus on a distant object messing about with different combinations of extension tubes.

But I am almost wound all the way in.

Will a star require the focuser to be wound further in or further out than the correct focus on a trig point about a mile away??

If its further out I am in business - if its further in I will need shorter extension tubes !!

It s 6" RC if that makes any difference.

Thanks folks and HAPPY CHRISTMAS !!!

+1 for @steppenwolf. But maybe you don't need the extension tubes. It's hard to believe that a scope can't focus at infinity. Hope the weather improves, so you can enjoy 1st light with your scope.

Merry Christmas

The scope came with two one inch and one inch and a half extension tubes to allow everything to reach focus from straight visual with a diagonal to DSLR and in my case a filter wheel and CCD - so there were many combinations to try out !!

It looks like just one 1" will do it but I cant be sure until tomorrow !

God Jul !
