voltage meter help

Recommended Posts

Hi gang, I am building a power box and have installed a leaisure battery and 5 lighter sockets + a USB socket. I brought a LED voltage meter from the internet and its arrived but it has 3 wires . RED/ BLACK/ YELLOW. How do I wire that into my setup, as if I attach the red and black wires to the battery I had expected a reading of 12 volts but I get 0 . What is the yellow wire (earth? ) I have of course wired all sockets etc in parallel.

Hi jaypoo

The black is your common (-), the red is your supply (+) and the yellow is your sense or input. Connect your black wire to the negative and your red wire to your positive (5 to 30 volts) and the display should come on with it showing 00.0. Now connect the yellow wire to your red and you should get your supply voltage

Hope that helps
