First astro photographs

I have just taken and stacked my first photographs. They are not very good but I am thrilled to be able to capture something. They have coma at the edges as I haven't got a coma corrector yet, and they suffer from a bit of wobble. They are taken with my F5 10" reflector with a Canon 450D unmodded, 10 lights 30s no flats or darks ( not at that stage yet)  unguided and non goto. I know more longer subs will produce better results and I will try next time. I think that my scope with all the equipment on it is too heavy for my mount also it catches any wind and moves around too much. This is fine for visual but not for AP so I think next month I will get a 130 PDS as an APO refractor is above budget at the moment.

Jolly good start mate, not a lot wrong with that ring nebula. My first stacked images looked like green gravel.

Thanks. It helped that I was shooting from a completely dark site as I live in a terraced house with a tiny back yard in a city and have to travel to see the sky

You should be really happy with that. Amazes me that first time imagers can get such great results. Keep at it.

It amazes me too that a lot of first time images can do better than the professionals could do with 200 inch of aperture not that many years ago.

Hi guys

Im the same as op just done my first images of the ring after a long journey and problems I have eventually done one and it confirms what everyone says about being spot on with your tracking as its showing trails starting
