I seem to be getting my best solar Ha views between 6pm and 7pm when the atmosphere is getting cooler. Quite a lot of small scale activity this evening and a couple of nice filaproms, the larger being quite spectacular and seems to be formed from the earlier long filament as a similar apperance has been evident for a few days.

Agree!  1st thing Am, & later Pm are prime times for viewing.  Sweltering midday conditions can be challenging (Edit :  Not that we get much of that !!)
