M51 LRGB with DSLR

This is the seasons last image for me and thankully it ended up pretty good.

Luminance taken with a 12" f/3.8 newtonian with a Canon 6Dm camera.

90x120sec @ ISO1600

RGB data is from 2015 and is taken with an 8" f/5 newtonian with a Canon 6Da camera.

21x180sec @ ISO1600 
43x300sec @ ISO1600 

So far it's my best image altough it lacks a little in the details on colors because of the low resolution RGB data.

Wonderful image, including the little bonus galaxy in the lower right corner!

I assume the the Canon 6Da and 6Dm are modded versions of 6D (Ha and mono). Did you mod them yourself?

You are right that both are modded, unfortunately i don't have the skills or tools to do the modding myself.

 

If you look closer there is a lot more galaxies there, actually hundreds of faint ones in the background, many of them so far away they are yellow because of redshift.

To the left of the sharpest star there is a cluster of yellow galaxies that are at a distance of around 2 billion lights years.

I made a new annotated version to really see how many background galaxies there is in this image.

Objects down to mag 21 was annotated, some can't be seen in my image (very very few), but there are others that can be seen that isn't annotated.

Total annotated objects = 2338
