First attempts at DSO's (Andromeda and Orion)

Recommended Posts

After reading up on some tutorials, I decided I would try some imaging of Andromeda and Orion. Due to the lovely British weather we have been having I had a long wait

Eventually I managed a night with at least 3 hours clear of cloud, but with a 3/4 moon and some street lights to add to the pollution

Both pictures were shot at ISO1600 @ f5.0 with a Canon 400D at 120mm. this was piggy backed on a Celestron Nexstar 6SE on a home made wedge with no autoguider, stacked in Deep Sky stacker and edited in Photoshop Elements 14.

Orion 12 x 30s light frames ; 3 x dark frames ; 3 x bias frames

Looking forward to a clear night with out a moon to get some more

These were taken in 2016 with the only change being a Canon 60D. I have been away for some time, but thought I would post now I am back.

Hope all is well 🙂
