Orion Shorty-Plus V Celestron Ultima Barlow

I've just read these are identical with different badges.

Why would anyone buy the Celestron @ £80 (ish) when the Shorty comes in @ £50(ish) ?

John's right. Though they clearly come from the same stable I have heard different reports/opinions as to whether they really are the same spec optically. It'd be interesting to do a side-by-side comparison.

Aren't the ultima and the shorty plus one and the same?As Steve says i was sure they had the same manufacturer and read somewhere on cloudy nights that they were exactly the same.

The price diference here might be £30 but in the US it's only 30 DOLLARS. If there IS any difference at all - $30 won't make a big one.

I have got the Orion Shorty Plus, it's very well made and the glass is super clear. You will notice the magnification, but not the lens.
