Some Norfolk Perseids, 13th August 2015

Recommended Posts

Hi folks,

Here's a few from overnight of the 12/13th August. Canon 700d, Samyang 8mm lens, ISO 1600, 30 second exposures. My first ever meteor captures!

Got up at 2:30 and started a series of 30-second exposures. Actually, I confess I was slightly disappointed by the relative paucity of meteors toward dawn, despite the clear sky. The best one we had was last night at around 22:30BST, which was at least mag -5 and crossed the sky from the radiant southwards almost to the horizon where it broke up. Unfortunately I didn't have the camera set up.

Composite image with three meteors, looking towards the SW and Cygnus:

Star trails (about 1:30 hours), with a couple of additional faint meteors and satellite trails.

One more from the batch, which I only just noticed. My back must have been turned!. This was at about 04:15 BST and the dawn was breaking, so this must have been a pretty bright one.
