again sorry guys and gals didn't know where to put this.

i was on stellarium last night planning an obs session as you do. and i noticed that quite a few objects are missing pictures, ie eskimo neb, cats eye neb, ghost jupiter. etc.

any way of updating this do you know?

Just re-boot your computer.

I think the default Stellarium only has pictures for the Messier objects - and not all of them either. You can download more star data - I haven't found any additional images yet.

yes, i dont think that stellarium prepares pictures for all stars. so only part(important ones?) of stars have their pictures. and you'd better upgrade your stellarium version to 0.9.1 which is the newest one.

already at 0.9.1 i think.

but yeah be good if there was a way of puttin your own pics in or somethin for nebs

I've got my garden fences, my shed and the back of my house as my landscape. Also my patio, lawn and garden path as the floor It's not perfect yet but coming along.

You can add your own images to it.

You just need to save them in the right place with the right names IIRC (don't have it on this PC!)

If you look in the Stellarium folder (my computer/c:/program files/stellarium) there's a folder named landscapes. All the themes are in there - and the PNG format background pics are contained therein.

I was going to find the link on the stellarium wiki about adding images, but it's on the go-slow for me so thought I'd browse for some new packs....and found this: http://archive.eso.org/cms/tools-documentation/visual-archive-browser stellarium plugin....omg! downloading it now...
