road find

Needs a clean.

Dew shield is a little out of shape but not greatly.

But there are groups out where you that the sort of specialise in those scopes.

Would say salvageable and then useful little addition.

Suppose no-one forget an APM 130 ever do they ??

I had completely forgotten about this thread.

This was a toss-away, found with some other road-side trash.

It did clean up and provides views expected from its genre.

I even have a .965" observing set to use with it.

Put them on a good mount and with a half decent eyepiece in the drawtube and those old Japanese 60mm refractors give some fine views.

I have one that is practically identical to the one you have tidied up except that it has an 800mm focal length. It dates from the 1960's like I do

The irony is that a scope like that is often optically far superior to many modern cheap department store efforts.

Many of us cut our observing teeth on Circle T 60mm scopes and they gave us some marvellous views.

IMO it's worth getting an adapter to allow the use of modern 1.25 inch eyepieces - they will really extract the maximum performance from your scope👍.

Well done for rescuing an unloved 'scope. It always saddens / upsets me to see a 'scope just tossed out with the rubbish.

Is that not the way of the world today, I give up 2 years ago and I see it as just rubbish to go in the bin when I have the next clear out.
