DSLR - as a Webcam

Recommended Posts

Ideally you also want access to uncompressed or losslessly compressed data rather than a video stream that has already had some form of lossy compression applied as is often the case with MPEG or H.264 video.  I have a vague recollection of someone suggesting that at least some Canon cameras (of those that support video modes) can do that, but I honestly couldn't be sure.

Even if you have to work with compressed video though, it's still possible to get a recognisable image and there are a few that have been posted here.

Does anyknow know how to use APT to record in liveview? I know how to set up exposure plans ie 10 x 30 sec subs

You can do that in using Tools->Planetary. APT can record a set of JPG files that can be imported in Registax for processing :)
