DSLR - as a Webcam

Ive got a QHY5-ii which I use as my planet webcam - I was wondering if it were possible to use my dslr 1200d as a planet webcam.

Does anyone know?

Many are starting to use DSLRs for planetary imaging. The main requirement is that the camera should have a 640x480 crop video mode.

Ideally you also want access to uncompressed or losslessly compressed data rather than a video stream that has already had some form of lossy compression applied as is often the case with MPEG or H.264 video.  I have a vague recollection of someone suggesting that at least some Canon cameras (of those that support video modes) can do that, but I honestly couldn't be sure.

Even if you have to work with compressed video though, it's still possible to get a recognisable image and there are a few that have been posted here.

As far as I know you have'nt got movie crop mode.

To get near to 1 to 1 pixel ratio try recording 5 x Liveview, that will be close.

Failing that just use any video mode and see what results you get.

You can do that in using Tools->Planetary. APT can record a set of JPG files that can be imported in Registax for processing
