Solar image with the 350D

This was single image taken on Monday 31.03.08 through my 86mm PSTMOD.

I don't know about you guys but the 350D just doesn't do it for me with solar imaging.

And as you can clearly see my solar image processing is not the best.

Anyways here it is have a look...

I don't know anything about DSLR cameras, but you got some nice prominences showing up there Jamie 8)

I agree with SR. Prominences spots flares,what more could you want? I've seen loads worse,mostly mine!

Very quick enhancement of the interesting bits attached. I'm sure there is more to find.

CW has certainly brought out the active areas of your image Jamie. Proof positive that you musn't be too hasty in rejecting the 350D.

Well, there's lots of stuff in there so I don't think the 350D has really let you down.

I think the solar image is ok. How did you fix the 350D to the PST? Was the image taken in manual?

I think the image is pretty good - as proven by the detail CW managed to get out of it.

I do understand where you are coming from with the DSLR though, with a single frame you are really at the mercy of the seeing and if you are lucky to find a moment of clarity then the image will be spectacular, with a webcam you're much more likely to come away with a stunner!

All in all though I think you should be happy with that!
