Saturn with better seeing (ish)

Another clear patch of sky for a while.

Better conditions than previously and I managed a fair few captures. Some drift on screen so the polar alignment needs attention.

Processed a couple in Registax 4 on the left, and then in version 3 as well (on the right)

The top image was taken using the 4 x Imagemate and the bottom one was eyepiece projection with a 5mm LER eyepiece. This is a great ep for visual work but condition normally preclude its use with the camera. The camera in this instance was the ATIK-1C.

A bit of post processing in Photoshop (curves and unsharp mask).

Nice shots, the top right gets my vote. I'm not convinced Registax 4 does a better job than Registax 3, I still do my lunar .avis in V3.

I've just realised I may have got the V3 ones the wrong way round.

I agree about V3 though. It often gives more pleasing results.

Great images Geoff. I didn't think saturn was very photogenic at present, but you have dispelled that notion.

I'm not choosinng between them, they are all pretty good.
