Stellarium flickering on laptop

Hi,

I've just download Stellarium onto my laptop but when I open it it strobes/flickers and then crashes.

What have I done wrong??

Are you using a desktop theme that is NOT an 'aero' theme??

I had the same issue but changing to an 'aero' theme cured it instantly!!

Hi

If you have windows 7 64bit operating system, it will not run stellarium v13, you will need to download stellarium 12.4 and wait for ver 13 for 64 bit to be released.

I am running Stellarium v13 on a Windows 7 64 bit system with no issues whatsoever.....

I had the same problem and that was the answer I was given, reinstalled v12.4 everything is tickyboo

Thanks for the answers, but ummm I'm on a laptop running windows 7, how do I know if it's 64 bit system?

go into control panel and select System half way down the page it will say system either 32bit or 64bit

Its this screen you are looking for but seriously v13 DOES run on Windows 7 64 bit - see attached screenshot!!

I also had the same problem, I reinstalled v12.4 and all is now well.

The only difference i can see between mine and yours is mine is AMD Athlon processor and yours is a Intel processor,

I think the problems are more to do with video drivers than the main processor, my laptop has Intel graphics and runs 0.13.0  but won't run 0.12.4 without the screen breaking up.

Windows 7 on a 64bit here and Intel i3. 0.13.0 was not working well. Now using an older (updated) beta 0.12.4. Works perfectly.

Thanks for the info - i'm got 64 bit. been on the site and found the older version but couldn't see how to down load it. sorry for being a pain but has anyone got a link to the down load....

did try and look at my graphic drivers... gosh if I don't know this stuff, how am I going to get along when I get my scope !!!!

Is that "I've got 64" or I'm not 64"  !!!

Alex is known to be working on the 64bit version of Ver13 ( in fact I thought he had sorted it already) but in case there are still bugs you might like to try the link to the Beta 13.1 top row 5th along on the english home page http://stellarium.org/en/

EDIT: That is the link that Dai has given, they are beta versions so may still have bugs.

if all else fails: on that home page righthand column last 2 links under "Collaborate" (just above "bzr" ) are links to the archives of various Windows 32 and 64 bit. You link through those links to versions page then in those look for versions ending in .exe BUT with big file sizes ( not the little .exe files).

For example here is the Ver12.4 page with both 32 and 64 bit files

Thank you daiwelly, but unfortunately your link didn't work and I got the same results! 

I also got the strobing effect from the 2 links from  Ptarmigan.   

Although the beta 13.1 seems to be ok - no strobing now, just an initial error about a satelite file out of date when I opened it.

But at least it works - so thank you all for your time and patience. Going to to have a look around it and see how it works
