Doh.....facepalm moments

Am sure I am not the only one who has had these....just had great one tonight.

Just setting up stuff for this evening and have always wondered what the extra 2" tube with the threaded base was for......turns out it's a short extension tube for the focuser......saves me buying one.

How many others have had these moments? Don't be shy......best way to learn is from mistakes....sorry....confusions

wondering how on earth a barlow works before realising that the tiny hole in the end is not the aperture, but actually a hole in a lid to let the air out so it can be put back on.

Could always use that as a collimating eyepiece.....

The half extended SW flex tube is the classic first setup error.

To say that I was disappointed with the view through my new scope was an understatement.......

Just had my first - trying to focus with the 2" to 125 adapter attached to the 2" focussing tube.  Took me a good 45 mins to figure out why the views were not great!

I've just worked out why my subs were looking noisy.

I forgot to turn the camera cooler on, oh well only an hour wasted.

Have another. ....took me 2 months to realise the focus fine tune knob was under a black plastic cover. .I thought that was the course and the silver one the fine

As posted elsewhere, I spent 20 minutes trying to work out why I couldn't get a good view of Saturn through my 6mm eyepiece until I realised there was a cheap, badly made moon filter attached to it!

On setting up the scope for the first time I was soooo proud of my new toy I took some snaps of it and uploaded it to a very well known (cough cough) stargazing lounge forum.   I had put the focuser on up upside down meaning the finder scope was below instead of on top.  It made a nice chin rest (as pointed out by another forum user) and in use gradually put it out of alignment with every chin nudge.  I am so proud of this moment I have left the uploaded the image on my profile for all to see.    I am not shy
