Camera setup - a step too far?

From the other posts it seems like a no brainer.

On It's own, Deadly, but if you could attach a length of Aluminium angle, securely to the scope, and run it underneath the whole run of the assembly, with a slotted hole to match with the cameras tripod fix hole, then it would be safe, at least from falling to the ground.

The slotted hole would have to be long enough to allow focusing, and the screw not tightened until focus has been established.

If you insist on that length of imaging train, then the aforementioned is probably your best bet for safety.

The angle size could be 1"x1"x.125" x necessary length.

Be sure the end fixed to the scope, is held by at least two bolts/screws, to prevent swivelling.

There may be an off the shelf bracket that clamps to the focuser, I don't know.

Ron.

I can hear the metal screaming from here...... You are going to get a lot of vignetting using that lens, probably.

Otherwise, go for it, as long as the camera is well supported, then you have a good counterbalance on the other end, and the mount can take the weight, and the motors can take the backlash when it stops slewing. It might just work fine :D
