Very easy comet Lovejoy.

Recommended Posts

Very easy to find in Bootes, just south of the star Nekkar in Bootes this morning in the East. Very easy to see before sunrise through x8 binoculars.

Similar position for tomorrow morning. A pair of x15 bins showed the bright core and huge wide tail.

Grab it while you can, lovely.

Even Mrs.C found it,

Old Nick.

Yeah, 'twas stunning at 3:00 yesterday am, but unfortunately clouds descended last night...... Very long and clear tail, and just about visible with the naked eye here.

All the fuss has been about Ison, but (yawn) as they always say, "a comet in the hand is worth two in the bush", or something like that!

Unfortunately whenever these easy-to-see objects appear I never get to see them through a combination of circumstances, usually too cloudy or obscured due to being in the wrong part of the sky, or at the wrong time of night or morning, or have something else on...  Same thing seems to happen with Meteor showers!

Know how you feel. Woke up a while ago and couldn't get back to sleep, so have just nipped out into the back garden with some 7x50 bins. Beautifully clear night (rather cold in a dressing gown!), with so many fab things to see but, yeah, Lovejoy is behind the s*dding trees! Might try again in an hour or so, when it should have climbed up the sky enough.

Hope to be loving Lovejoy soon! Happy viewing folks.
