Hello all this evening , from a cold and miserable North Yorkshire :icon_jokercolor:.

My name is Steve and I live in the small town of Richmond (http://www.richmond.org/guide/index.html). I am a complete beginner at astronomy and thought I would join Stargazers' Lounge as it looks a friendly place with lots of usefull info :embarassed:. I have only just recently bought my first telescope via a well known auction site (a used NexStar 8 GPS) and shall be looking for some usefull info / help to get the best out of it from fellow members on here.

Perhaps you will get to the Dalby Forest Starfest next August.

Is the weather ever "brilliant" in (North) Yorkshire :embarassed::icon_jokercolor: lol. Yes I would be up for that , its only about 70 miles from me so not too far.
