Witches Broom NGC 6960 in HOO format

This was taken over 2 nights, 15x10 min OIII subs on June 2nd and 15x 10 min H-alpha subs on June 4th. Processed as HOO = RGB.

Beautiful, I don't think I've ever seen a picture of this object before. Witches Broom seems a bit derogatory - it looks a stork or heron to me or perhaps a phoenix.

Mark & Rob - yes a mosaic of the full Veil nebula, including Pickerings wisp etc is on the cards and I could probably get it all in across 4 panels, so it would not be too difficult. The nights are just so short at the moment though, that's the challenge - it's not really dark enough to start deep imaging until around 11.30pm and then by 3.00am it's over!

Very nice indeed Martin You're dead right about the short nights - not much imaging time. I run unattended imaging - I need my beauty sleep I've been covering this in widefield but I have been thinking about doing a mosaic to get finer detail but it also depends on the seeing and transparency.
