ISS ?

Hi everyone, have I just seen the iss pass over me ? It happened about 2 minutes ago at 7pm it passed over very quickly shining very brightly and making no sound whatsoever, it was travelling west to east but the brightness seemed to fade really quickly when it had passed Jupiter, moon area. Kev

Yes - that's what your saw! I was looking just before 7 almost overhead then fading on it's path east - still amazing that people are in there orbiting the earth night after night.

We had just come out from our village school after parent's evening and I looked up at the Moon and Jupiter to find another bright object cruising past....good timing, and my kids loved seeing it too

If you want to see it again it's easy...Register to Heavensabove.com ,enter your local coordonance , and they show 10 days predictions of the passage of ISS...Sometimes there are no visible passages but you can know in advence when it will pass where to look and it's very precise. They even predict Iridium flares and many other satellites...Have a look !

Stellarium also shows the ISS, so if you plan a nights observing you can see when it will pass over head. Always a cool sight to see.

I agree with Andrew it is amasing that people are up there, it will not be long before there is a KFC orbiting behind it. It should show colour then from the advertising signs. It comes at different times for me and I too use the ISS site Heavenabove, it has the Hubble info there too.

Ive never seen Hubble, is it possible? I mean i guess it is as the information is on there like you say. I may have to go have a look..

I think it gets to about 1.5 Mag so you will be able to see it, the full data is on the site, there is a Chinesse object listed too but I have no idea what it is. I must have a look for it.
