IC1396 - Guess it's the best I'm gonna get this season

3 months of trying to image this and the best I've been able to salvage is 31 x 5min Ha on the 314L+ & ZS66 with 62 x 2 mins with the modded 1000D on the 80ED. Combined using Nebulosity, Registar & CS3.

Thinking of taking up cloud formation imaging as I already have an impressive collection...

I was trying to avoid the overwhelming intense red without swimming in salmon. I wanted to give the impression of floating in the dust.. I could almost smell gun caps when I was working on it!

I love images of great pillars & columns swirling in dust.. it's so difficult to get enough data for that under UK skies. This is the first image I've been able to (sort of) complete using data from the Atik since I got it! I definitely think shooting OSC (DSLR in this case) as a backup with a dual rig is the way forward here. I'm really loving the mono Atik but it takes an age to get a full set of data under these skies.
