First attempt M31

My first attempt at M31 (decided not to go for M33... chickened out)

Due to my fussiness in excluding some subs with slight star trails on them, I only used 13 of 30 exposures. (5x60sec, 8x120sec). I've quickly learnt that this sucker takes a lot of effort to bring out the detail :shock: Will try another stack including some of the other exposures, I think the more exposures the better.

Very acceptable M31 Vega. Great looking stars, and dust lanes in the galaxy are very prominent. All round good result.

Re-stacked with slight star trail exposures included (I was being too fussy on the first one). This time 5x60sec and 16x120sec exposures.

If I take more at a later date can I re-stack with these one's ?

Thats a bit gorgeous that is. Getting the core sorted is the really hard bit, but you got the dust lanes cracked, which is just the ordinary hard part. The data you have got will process into something really special, so don't chuck any of it away.
