Jupiter downunder

SPX350 F30.4, PGRFlea3, Baader RGB filters. Seeing Fair to Average.

Jupiter is very low now at 40 degrees from Brisbane so thought I would try while the Moon was up, Images taken 31.10.12-1634hrs. Used WinJupos for the 1st RRGB and MaximDL for the second assembly of the same data - not sure which is the best for detail, colour balance slightly different.

Both are cracking shots. I prefer the colour balance in the latter, but it is easy to correct that of the former

Nice images John. I did it the other way, Sydney to uk in 2002 but I've been back in oz for 4.5 mth. Going home this Sunday.

Hi John. Jupiter may be very low down there but these images are right up here. Two cracking images, beautifully detailed.

Good detail John, I prefer the bluer balance, i feel its more white balanced accurate. But the red enhanced balance does show the red detail a little better

Thanks everyone, the forum in Australia prefers the natural brown/yellow as thats how Jup appears in the eyepiece but I prefer the white balance of the second as the blues and browns contrast better. I could not get WinJupos to work with Firecapture 1.1 but it now works with FC 2.1 and does produce a more solid disc with less blurring.

Heres WinJupos version balances better for whites.
