  3. Thanks for the comments. I can't comment on the 4x as I haven't used it, but ill probably hold out for the 5x. Both my 2.5x and 5x were purchased second hand on astrobuy/sell and seem to appear relatively frequently or around £100 mark. I have to admit, with the long focal length and small sensor size, i do spend more time trying to find the object than i do actually imaging it. It certainly helps having at least a rough focus, I just ensure that my Telrad is as accurate as possible, then just move the scope (via the pc) in a scanning type way until it appears on the screen.   6. Thanks Guys, I am really happy with it. I have mainly done mono images of planets , but took a stab at RGB imaging last week and it was pretty poor. So I re read some threads on here and 'ice in space' forums which led me to tweak the capturing process in particular but also the registax step, combined with adding L into the data it seems to have worked.

  8. This is my effort following the initial posts instructions - it is the best shot of the moon I have managed so thank you for the post! The only difference was i had to significantly reduce the exposure (to 1/2500, iso200) but I guess that is due to my scope being 200mm.

  11. Hi, I currently do some imaging with a 1000mm f5 newt and where necessary guide using a finder guider. The imaging camera is a non modified canon 500d (though I do have occasional access to an Atik 16ic). For a variety of reasons I am looking to move to an OAG for guiding, but i am struggling to see a suitable option. I use the baader mpcc v3, which I believe has a back focus of 55mm. The canon chip-face distance is 44mm, t ring adaptor 1mm, leaving me with just 10mm or so for an OAG. The only option I have come across is the TS 9mm OaG, but they don't seem to be thought of that highly (please

Hi, Last night I had the opportunity to use a mono CCD (Atik 16IC) with RGB filters (manual wheel) for the first time, it was only really a test shoot 3x5 mins in each channel to see how i got on. The below image is the result, there is alot more red than anything else, with the stars in Red channel being bigger than any other channel. Is this an artefact of how I captured the data or how I processed it? I don't know much about the filters themselves as they are unbranded, but I suspect they don't have IR cut (I did have a separate IR cut filter I meant to use but forgot to add it to the light

  14. You can adjust the rate at which the telescope moves when you are trying align it by adjusting the rate - button 2 on the synscan controller. It can be set to a number between 1-9, 9 being the highest. The rate can be changed whilst in the middle of aligning. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
