Venus phase seen in binos

The never ending conveyor belt of cloud and rain finally ceased long enough for me on sunday evening to grab a look at Venus with my 16x50 binos. At my last astro meeting it was mentioned that Venus would be getting big enough around about now to see the phase with binos. Took the opportunity to whip out my 16x50s, and sure enough the cresent phase was beautifully obvious. A first for me with a pair of binos!

Nice one. Since I replaced my Omegon 15x70 with Helios Apollo 15x70 bins I have been picking out the phase of Venus with bins as well. You need good quality bins or the glare of Venus swamps out the shape.

Yes i got my first sighting of Venus last night through my bins,which looked pretty good.I also saw a star to the right side of Venus,near to 3'Oclock.???

Had a quick peek with the 15x50is tonight and the phase was very clear.

its been really interesting watching the phase get smaller as the size of grows as well.

Just been out with my 15x70's after seeing your post and venus was looking good. Don't normally bother looking at Venus in bins
