X5 seems a bit excessive to me, far to much magnification. X3 would be the max for any ep

I've got one, and very rarely use it, and then only for imaging. It's totally OTT for visual, and can only be used under near perfect conditions for imaging, even though focusing with it, is maddening.

Agreed. If you want to max out the magnification you'd probably be better off with a decent quality short focal length eyepiece, or a 2x barlow and slightly longer focal length eyepiece. 7mm with a 2x barlow or 4mm without is quite possibly as much as you'd ever go even on a pretty decent night.

Depends what EPs you're using it with. I use my Revelation 5x with a 25mm on a 130p & am enjoying the planetary views so far (When it's not raining anyway) Reassuringly hefty in the hand too.

Others may disagree.

5x barlows are for astro-photography really, no good as visual.
